Alperen A., who lives in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye, will start school next year. Alperen was diagnosed with a kidney condition at birth, so he and his older sister travel from Osmaniye to Sakarya every three months for check-ups. Both his mother and father are unemployed, causing them to face serious financial difficulties.
During the earthquakes on February 6, their detached house, which belonged to his grandfather, was heavily damaged. They vacated the house and built a new one in the yard, taking on debt to do so. The father, who volunteered in the tent city during the earthquake, was appointed by the district governor's office as a temporary worker in the container city for 18 months, earning minimum wage.
Alperen's mother is also undergoing treatment for thyroid disease. Alperen's kidney condition is currently stable, but he needs support for his medical check-ups and education.
